The success of conservation and development projects lies in bottom-up solutions that are founded on local visions and priorities. Through decades working with local communities and smallholders in both the North and South, we have garnered extensive experience in empowering local participation from project inception to implementation. Through facilitation of participatory planning workshops and participatory research and action, we engage people in the process of determining conservation and development goals and creating work plans for project implementation on the ground. We have worked with a wide variety of local groups including: smallholders and communities creating participatory monitoring systems in the tropics and mental health patients involved in community gardens in the UK.

We focus on:

  • Facilitating participatory workshops and planning processes
  • Integrating local peoples’ perspectives into strategic planning and project implementation
  • Designing conservation & development projects that empower local people
